Matthew Williamson To Collaborate With H&M For SS09 Collection

I’m not hyped about this one at all. While the wearability will redoubtably be more universal by using Matthew Williamson; the creativity of the pieces are ultimately suffering. I took a gander on Williamson’s site, and found what looked to be a collection heavily inspired from the Gucci SS08 catalog crossed with Pucci; hippie florals in flowing sheer fabrics with a color palate of large tripping proportions.

The evening pieces were more bearable, but were still too acid tripping floral for my taste. I wonder how Williamson will be working his collection in order to keep costs down and interests up; because I know for damn sure that cheap[er] materials and plain designs spell launch d-i-s-a-s-t-e-r.

He is leaving Pucci to pursue his own work, but I feel as if he has got so caught up in the classic Pucci design he’s lost his own inspirations. I guess we’ll have to stay tuned.

We will indeed

Personally, I’ll reserve judgement until I can see the collections, especially with his menswear collection.

H&M has had a great track record so far. I think if Comme des Garcons could fly off the shelves, so can Williamson’s work.

@Emmy: We’ll see what he can come up with. At least Comme had some creativity, but who knows what will happen.
