Over The Moon For A Boot That Is Over The Knee

There has been a severe influx of over the knee boot designs (let’s avoid the dreaded “thigh high” label) during this Fall season.  Over the knee boots are a complete 180° from the ever-loved ankle cut style, and these take us in a direction we need to visit to avoid boot boredom.

Try these high-cut boots on for style with a pair of opaque tights or snappy leggings (zippered, anyone?), or your favourite cigarette cut trousers for a look that is both effortless and up to the moment.  If you’re going for a very snug fit  below, try to balance things with a more voluminous coat and scarf.

I found the over the knee boots that were below the Frye price point of $398 looked cheap, and were not cut or constructed well.   My overall favourite were the Barneys boots (third from the left), as they had the best snug look and leather treatment.  That, and they were on the low end for overall price ranges at $610.

From left to right: Frye Paige cuff ($398; Piperlime), Pura Lopez riding boot ($575; Footcandy), CO-OP Barneys ($610; Barneys), Prada suede over the knee boots ($792; Bluefly), Versace over the knee boot ($1,340; eLuxury), Fendi Secret Code boots ($1,380; eLuxury)
